Sprint tracking for startups
You do not have anyone spare to administer a project tool. Nothing here needs administering.
Most agile tools are built for organisations that have a person whose job includes configuring them. Startups do not have that person, so the tool gets set up once during a busy week, never revisited, and slowly stops describing how the team actually works.
What usually gets in the way
- The board reflects a process you abandoned two months ago
- One founder is the only person who understands the workflow settings
- Per-seat pricing that assumes you have a procurement process
- Reporting that takes longer to produce than the update it feeds
Working defaults, not a setup project
Scrum and Kanban boards, a ranked backlog and sprints exist as soon as a project does. Columns map to statuses you define rather than a fixed set, so the board can change when the process does — but it works before you touch any of it.
- Drag-and-drop boards with WIP limits and swimlanes
- Ranked backlog with drag-to-reorder
- Sprint goals, burndown and velocity from the first sprint
- Command palette for anything you would otherwise hunt for
Reporting you do not have to assemble
Burndown, velocity and sprint history are generated from the work itself. When an investor update or a board meeting needs a delivery picture, it already exists.
- Committed against completed points per sprint
- Sprint history and team workload
- Exports in CSV, JSON, PDF and release-notes format
Pricing that suits a small team
Pro is $5 per user per month with a 3-seat minimum, so a team of five costs $25 a month. There is a 14-day trial and no free tier — if free is the deciding factor at your size, Jira's free plan covers up to 10 users and we would rather say so here.
Common questions
How long does setup take?
Minutes. Create a project, and boards, backlog and sprints are ready. There is no workflow designer to configure before the first issue.
What happens when we grow past 10 people?
Nothing changes structurally. Business at $10 per user adds org-wide reporting, custom roles, an audit log, enforced 2FA and IP allowlisting when you need them.
Can we import what we already have?
From a Jira CSV export, yes — titles, types, priorities and story points. It does not carry comments, attachments, sprint history or assignee mapping.
Coming from Jira?
Most teams reading this are already running something. Our honest comparison against Jira covers where Jira is still the better tool and exactly what our importer does and does not carry across.
